Hanukkah Homecoming is inspired by the yearning for gathering together with our families, friends, and communities. Our purpose is to "come back together" in reunion, song, ritual, and relationship. For some, these local gatherings will be an invitation to “come on home.” For others, these gatherings will be a global "open house," to shine a spotlight on our welcoming communal organizations with an invitation to "come on in!" Whether onsite or online, all are welcome! Hanukkah Homecoming is our opportunity to create a global network offering hundreds of gatherings to celebrate the community coming together.

Recount the things that befell us….

Together we will illuminate our communal spaces, celebrating by singing together, kindling our hanukkiyot (menorahs), and praising the first responders and all those who have sustained us through the pandemic.

We will “recount the things that befell us” - how many and how much we have lost. Yet, as we pray in Psalm 30, a song for a hanukkat ha-bayit (dedication of a home): “You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing…”

Let’s begin planning our homecomings now.
